“Places of Reflection”
Nina Gee
Fine Art Photographer
The world of Fine Art Photography welcomes Nina Gee in her very first showing of her collected works, called “Places of Reflection”.
The artist seeks in her work to find places that accurately reflect the images and emotions of her soul in her photography. What she discovered through building this collection, was that many of the themes captured in her images are universal to all of us who try desperately to find peace in an otherwise hectic and chaotic world.
As you view each of the twelve pieces of the collection, Nina wants you to ask yourself, “Where do I reflect?”
The word, “Reflection” has double meanings in this collection. As a verb, one seeks to “reflect” as in meditation. For this purpose, we seek reflection where few people can disturb us. The seashore just before sunrise, a deep, unused path in the woods, or a springtime flower in the morning twilight. As a noun, a “reflection” is a thing that reveals what is inside one’s self. What does “Trash”, or a beat-up car called “Cosmic Mother” tell us about ourselves and the society in which we live? Do we harm the natural world as we try to hold onto something beautiful like a “Summer Snowflake”? The centerpieces of the collection are, quite literally, “Reflections” of a city street as seen bounced back at us from the windows of downtown shops and coffeehouses. It reminds us that even though we may seek a place of “reflection” in the world around us, that we are all “reflections” of each other no matter how hard we try to escape from it.
We invite you to seek your “reflection” in our work.
